YOUR CLASS, YOUR DETAILS
A short privacy note
Joy Korean uses the details you provide to arrange your class or follow up on your waiting-list request. You do not need a website account.
What we collect
Your name, email, time zone, and acceptance of the relevant notices. A booking also includes the selected class and confirmation that you can take part on a computer with your camera and microphone on. The waiting list includes your preferred local days and times. You can choose to share how long you have studied Korean and any questions for Joy.
We keep booking, attendance, payment, and refund records. A hashed network identifier helps prevent repeated or abusive submissions.
How we use it
To reserve your place, confirm payment, send Google Meet and class information, provide practice materials, and handle support or refunds. If you join the waiting list, we may email you about classes that suit your request. Joy can see the details for her own classes. We do not add you to unrelated marketing emails.
Complimentary trials
We use the approximate country of your network connection to show eligible complimentary trial places. This is not your nationality, and we do not use GPS. We do not ask you to verify your email before booking. Your email is used for confirmation and repeat-booking checks; an email address can use one complimentary trial. Booking records are kept with your class details. If you correct your email, we keep earlier addresses with your booking to prevent repeat complimentary registrations.
Your local time
We use your browser’s time zone to display the class time. We do not ask for GPS location. Your booking includes your time zone so we can show your class time in the confirmation email. You can check and change the time zone on the waiting-list form.
Payments and service providers
PayPal processes payment details. We receive payment identifiers, amounts, and statuses, and do not store your card information. Supabase stores registration data and private materials. Resend delivers class emails. Google Meet hosts the drama class. These providers may process information outside your country.
Your practice
Your private booking link gives access to your materials. Keep it safe. When you record yourself in the guest practice player, the recording stays in your browser and is discarded when you leave. It is not uploaded to Joy or stored on our servers.
Student interview videos
The short student story plays directly on our site. If you choose to play the full interview, we load YouTube’s embedded player. Google may receive your network and playback information and process it outside your country. We do not load the YouTube player until you press play.
Your choices
Optional analytics help us understand which pages and class information are useful. If you choose “Allow analytics”, Google Analytics measures visits and application steps, and Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling, and masked interactions on our public information and registration pages. We do not load these tools before you agree. They are not used on private booking, payment-return, practice, or signed-in pages.
We mask registration and waiting-list forms. We do not send your name, email, questions, preferred times, private booking links, or payment credentials to these analytics tools. We keep approved campaign labels, the page version shown to you, and pseudonymous analytics identifiers to measure completed paid bookings and complimentary registrations separately. Optional booking analytics context is removed after 180 days. Google and Microsoft may process analytics information outside your country.
You can decline analytics and still book. Use “Privacy choices” at the bottom of our public pages to change your choice. If you withdraw consent in the browser where you booked, we also stop future analytics delivery for that booking. Previously delivered analytics are not recalled automatically; contact Joy for help.
To correct your details, leave the waiting list, or request deletion, contact aawharg@gmail.com. Records needed for payments, disputes, or legal obligations may need to be retained.
